Robert "Bo" Parfet lives in Boulder, Colorado, approximately 40 minutes northwest of Denver. He works as the managing director of DLP Capital Partners. Robert "Bo" Parfet is interested in sustainability in fashion and how it can impact the environment and social norms.
The fashion industry produces approximately 10 percent of total global emissions, which makes it one of the most harmful industries for the environment. “Fast fashion” refers to clothing that goes quickly from design to consumer, and then into a landfill due to changing styles. Fast fashion has been the standard for a long time. There must be a change that adds sustainability practices and social changes to the industry. Inhumane labor practices have a history in fashion manufacturing. In third-world countries, the fashion industry pays little and has extreme work conditions and poor safety measures. Because brands are starting to understand that social impact and environmental impact are major issues with consumers, brands are beginning to move away from these labor practices. Many companies are switching to recycled and sustainable materials, and the future of fashion will be much more socially and environmentally conscious.
